TRI-STATE
CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION (T.S.C.A.) |
The Tri-State Contractors Association is a multi-employer
contractors’ trade association consisting of member firms
primarily engaged in construction and related industries.
Prior to 1973, Contractors in the Tri-State area were
informally split into three separate Contractors
Association. However, in 1974 a group of astute, farsighted
contractors decided to merge the three Associations into one
organization with a common goal of teamwork and cooperation
– by ASSOCIATION. Thus, the Tri-State Contractors
Association, Inc. was formally organized in February 1974.
Espousing the concept, “TOTAL MANAGEMENT UNITY”, the
Association has consistently promoted tri-partite meetings
with local industrial users, contractors and building trade
unions over the years which has enabled the Tri-State
Contractors Association influence to reach the customers of
our contractor’s services throughout the State of West
Virginia, eastern Ohio and eastern Kentucky.
MULTI-CRAFT BARGAINING
Adopting the concept of multi-craft bargaining, in 1974 the
Association negotiated its first Multi-Craft Agreement with
26 trades, which is believed to be the largest Multi-Craft
Agreement ever negotiated in the construction industry.
Subsequent consecutive Tri-State Multi-Craft agreements have
been successfully renewed with these 26 crafts in 1976,
1979, 1983, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1993, 1997, 1998, 2000 and
2005 and
is currently considered by many observers to be an ideal
example of Multi-Craft bargaining and Labor-management
cooperation. The existence of a heavy industrial
construction market dominated by large industrial projects,
involving parts of Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky provide
the backdrop for both the Tri-State Contractors Association
and the Tri-State Building Trades Council to work closely
together in a successful long term cost efficient economic
stability program benefiting commercial and industrial users
alike. |
